Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) is a measure of academic performance for a single semester. It is calculated by taking the weighted average of grade points earned across all subjects in that term, where each subject is weighted by its credit value.
While SGPA reflects one semester's performance, CGPA reflects your entire academic career. To get CGPA from SGPA, multiply each semester's SGPA by its total credits, sum these values, and divide by the sum of all credits across all semesters.
Most Indian universities use the formula: Percentage = (SGPA × 10) – 7.5 or simply Percentage = SGPA × 9.5. For example, an SGPA of 8.0 roughly equals 75–76%. Check your university's specific formula for exact conversion.
SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) measures your academic performance for a single semester, while CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is the average of all semesters combined. SGPA is calculated first, then all SGPAs are averaged (weighted by credits) to get CGPA.
